It’s a monthly news ezine serving West Pasco County, Florida. We’ll be www.bluesinkmonthly.com. I put in an email to Namecheap see why the domain name doesn’t seem to be pointing to anything yet . . . Angelique at www.miscellaneaarts.com will be doing site setup, some editing, and some contributing to the site. She’s totally making this possible! She is utterly patient when I’m peppering her with IM and email questions.
Our first theme is Quintessential Pasco. This has been my dream for a while, so I am extremely grateful to her and to Meghan Sheehan for their enthusiasm in getting this project off the ground.
Angelique is graciously providing temporary hosting while I investigate what our needs are. She put together a spreadsheet and pages of links, plus suggestions and questions to ask. Friday she leaves on vacation, and Meghan and I will start on some stories.
It is satisfying to have multiple projects in the works. My calendar is filling up, and I like the challenge of having to accomplish certain things each day in order to be on track. Here’s what’s going on with me:
- This site, which is me slooowwlly learning how to use a blog.
- Blue Sink, which is me learning how to be a journalist, I hope not slowly.
- Intro to Computers and Programming, which is me acquiring technical skills in the format that works best for me, a class.
- Gearing up for holiday Arbonne sales, which is me earning Christmas cash (www.arbonne.com, if you want to browse).
The news site is what I think about when I lay down to sleep at night, though. It’s daunting–so many things to learn. Hosting, interviewing, providing content that serves our area, learning more than I ever wanted to know about W. Pasco, promoting the site, learning to support it, marketing it, selling advertising. I want to learn all these things, and I want to learn them quickly. I want the site to be good. I’ve got two journalism graduates backing me up, but I want to pull my own weight. Strike that–my Arbonne ladies would tell me to visualize that in the present tense: Blue Sink Monthly is brilliant and I help make it that way.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, my planner says I should be in bed.
